Mobile phone holder for bikes: which one to choose?
One of the indispensable tools for a self-guided bike tour is definitely the mobile phone holder. Before setting off, it is essential to find a solution that will allow you to consult the map of the itinerary with your smartphone in complete safety and comfort, and to easily reach each planned stage. There are a lot of products on the market, the problem is to find the best one that is able to attach stably to the holder and hold the phone firmly.
For our trips we offer three solutions, each with specific advantages and features, let’s see them together.
The Girolibero bag, specifically designed for our cycling tours
The Girolibero bag, with its spacious shape and plasticized bottom, is very functional. It’s a simple solution for those who don’t want to spend a lot of time looking for a mobile phone holder, but simply want a quick solution for their self-guided tours. The bag is compatible with all our bikes and is attached to the handlebars with Velcro straps. Thanks to its capacity, in addition to the phone, it can also hold the power bank (another essential accessory!) and you can put gloves, a wallet, glasses and anything else you want to have at hand. The case is comfortable and practical thanks to a touch lamination that allows the use of the smartphone; the only drawbacks that may occur are light reflection and overheating. But it will not let you down and you can reuse it for other occasions. Any ideas? For us, it is really useful at the airport, clipped to the trolley: it will help you keep an eye on your tickets and documents. Last but not least: it is an Italian product.
Classic bike bindings: the models to look for online or in a sporting goods store
If, on the other hand, you prefer a classic bike mount that attaches directly to the handlebars of your bag, here are some tips on what features to look for when buying online or in a sporting goods store. One of the most important aspects of these mounts is the guarantee of stability and security, so look for models with a knurled knob to tighten the phone and its cover. Screw fastening is a reliable system that may not offer a quick release, but it does offer strength and stability. The cost of these holders ranges from €18 to €25.

The SP Connect™ model, the best according to our research
This model is the result of much research, and we feel we can recommend it as the best based on our experience. Why do we prefer it? First of all, we like the fact that it is easy to detach, so that we can easily use the smartphone to take pictures of the best stops on the trip, to answer a phone call, or to take it with you for a coffee break at the café. We are also very impressed with the phone holder cover, which is compatible with the SP Connect™ mount that attaches to the handlebars, because not only is it extremely durable, it can also be reused as an everyday cover because it is thin and light, almost like a regular cover, too bad it is only black. There are also many accessories, including car and desk accessories, that can be used with the same cover, making this mount truly functional in any situation. We recommend the Velcro mount for €29.90 (the compatible cover must be purchased separately, price varies depending on the model of cell phone): it is practical and has good cushioning even on the bumpiest paths. You can buy it with a special 20% discount (visit the official SP Connect™ website and use the discount code TRAVEL20, valid on all products).
