Here is the winner of the Girolibero 2024 contest!

As is the case every year, selecting the winners of our contest is a difficult task. We received a tremendous number of entries (thank you all!) and spent countless hours reviewing them. We laughed a lot, picked our favorites, and even reevaluated some of our choices. After much deliberation, we finally made our decisions! We did not focus on professional photographers or outstanding videographers, but on those who captured the most genuine and spontaneous moments of their vacations. We wanted to highlight the real stars of every trip: the people. Now we are pleased to present our winner, along with some honorable mentions!

The winner: Christine and her friends on the bike and barge tour

Some of us saw it as a modern (and much funnier) version of The Dance by Henri Matisse, but the truth is that it all started with a very simple untied shoe! Such a small excuse for the perfect snapshot of a Girolibero trip and the carefree, light-hearted spirit that has always been with us – we had no doubt it was the winner!

The behind-the-scenes story is told by Christine herself, who sent us the photo: “We were about halfway through our day’s ride along the Canal Bianco when we stopped for a break. It was the perfect spot to take a picture of the whole group while capturing the beautiful view of the waterway. In order to get everyone in the frame, some people were sitting. Immediately after the group photo, the man in the blue shirt noticed that the woman’s shoelace was untied and offered to fix it since he was already down there. His wife, sitting next to him, offered “help” in the form of an encouraging back rub. Not to be outdone, the woman’s husband offered to “help” his wife with a steadying hand. This prompted other friends in the group to “help” with the task of tying shoelaces. It was a completely spontaneous and lighthearted moment, but it highlights the camaraderie that was fostered on this amazing trip. “

They didn’t win, but we loved them!

In a contest, there can only be one winner. But there are some photos that made it to the very end, so much so that they deserve public praise. Here they are!

A traveler can be recognised from afar, but which one is the more adventurous? When in doubt, bravo to both!

Here is proof that walking on water is possible: this is Cherilyn taking a rejuvenating break during a cycling tour in Dalmatia!

Lisa is showing us her best smile! It will be the positive effect of a bike and boat trip to Croatia.

Attempts at camouflage: purple flowers on the shirt and helmet as red as a poppy! The most colorful photo of all was sent to us by Paul on his bike and boat in Croatia!

Friends in yellow, the color of Girolibero! Cathy and her fellow adventurers are in Provence on their bike and barge trip. Fantastic!
